Why We Need More Wilderness
The legacy of Governor Cuomo will be determined by whether or not he protects the Boreas Ponds and other recently acquired or adjoining Adirondack lands as Wilderness. An expanded High Peaks Wilderness will protect forests and waters that serve as home to diverse wildlife, and enhance opportunities for solitude.

Adirondack Council Takes Part in International Acid Rain Conference Being Held in Rochester
The Adirondack Council is taking part in the 2015 International Acid Rain Conference being held this week in Rochester. This once-every-five-years event, that has never been held in New York before, is looking at ways to better protect sensitive areas like the Adirondack Park from acid rain.

Another Victory on Acid Rain! New York's Dirtiest Power Plants to Close
The long battle against acid rain in the Adirondack Park reached a major milestone in August, as the owners of New York's two largest coal-fired power plants said they would shut down their operations or convert them to cleaner fuels.
