Micro-grants in Action
Our 2023 Clarence Petty Farm Intern, Martha DePoy, visited numerous Adirondack farms and producers to see how the Essex Farm Institute’s (EFI) Micro-grants are doing. EFI provides grants to Adirondack farmers to help them improve efficiency and lower their environmental impact. This is one of the many ways that EFI, which is a program of the Adirondack Council, supports our local food network and communities.

The Adirondack Council and The Wild Center were represented at the United Nations COP28 conference in Dubai by our Forever Adirondacks Campaign Director Aaron Mair. Aaron brought the example of the Adirondack Park to Dubai. so that others see its benefits.

Two New Laws Benefit the Adirondacks, for Very Different Reasons…
Governor Hochul recently signed two bills into law that the Adirondack Council has advocated for in recent years. Both will benefit the Adirondack Park for very different reasons. Read on to learn more about two new laws created this year: one that raises the minimum age for unsupervised ATV operation and another that expands local governments' authority to establish aquatic invasive species control districts.

On September 14, Environmental Justice Pioneer and Adirondack Council Forever Adirondacks Campaign Director Aaron Mair was presented the Marlin Fitzwater Medallion for Leadership in Public Communication by the dean of the College of Health and Natural Sciences at Franklin Pierce University in Ringe, New Hampshire.
