Land Issues

The Adirondack Council works on many issues ranging from acid rain to zebra mussels.

Public Lands

The Adirondack Forest Preserve is the land owned by the State of New York in the Adirondack Park. It is managed by the Department of Environmental Conservation and protected by the "Forever WIld" Clause of the New York State Constitution.  But that doesn't mean that there aren't issues that affect the Forest Preserve.

Below are just some of the issues that the Council is working on to ensure the ecological integrity of the publicly owned lands in the Adirondack Park.
- Unit Management Plans

Private Lands

There are many issues that affect the private lands in the Adirondack Park. Below are just a few that the Adirondack Council is working on to ensure the Park's ecological integrity.
