The Council's
Activist Network is a subgroup of our main membership that is
made up of people who want to get more involved in protecting
the Adirondack Park. Our activists write letters or make phone
calls to policy makers, attend public hearings, and meet with
their own elected representatives - all to promote protections
for the Adirondack Park.
If you choose
to join the other committed members in our Activist Network,
the amount of time you dedicate is up to you. If you feel most
comfortable writing letters, that is great! If you feel like
speaking at a public meeting, that is great too. Anything that
you can do to help in the Council's effort to protect the Park
is beneficial and greatly appreciated.
Activists receive Action Alerts urging you to send a letter to
Congress on acid rain, to contact the Adirondack Park Agency
or to attend a public hearing that is being held in your area.
Our Action Alerts
contain all the information you will need to respond to our request
for help - background on the issues, who to contact, their addresses,
and suggestions to help you develop your comments. But if you
do have any questions, we are only a phone call or an e-mail
away. Our program staff will answer questions and explain issues
in more detail, so feel free to contact us!
As you can imagine,
issues and problems can arise suddenly, so sometimes we may need
to contact you by telephone in order to alert you in a timely
fashion.
Our Action Alerts are also posted on our website and we can contact
you via e-mail, if you prefer.
